Troop Meeting Agenda - Oct 26 2011

Parents Meeting, Christmas Tree Sale - Tonight's meeting includes a separate informational Parents Meeting regarding our big annual Christmas Tree sale.  All scouts/families are expected to participate and it is actually a lot of fun.  Bob Murray & Lisa Beck will explain what is expected, how and what to do when it is your shift.  Come learn and sign up for your shifts.

New Patrol Assignments and Troop Elections - We will be re-organizing into new patrols and electing new Patrol Leaders and a new Senior Patrol Leader for the next 6-month term.  Also, scouts interested in other Positions of Responsibility (see your Handbook) should make requests to the SPL and the new SPL and Scoutmasters will determine the final appointments.  A Youth Leader Training / PLC session is tentatively scheduled for Saturday Nov 5 that all scouts with a POR attend.  Den Chief training is available Sunday Nov 6.

Orienteering Campout (THIS WEEKEND) Final Planning – This should not take very long.  We will finalize the plans made at the previous troop meeting, such as finalizing grubmaster’s lists so they can purchase food for their patrols and finalizing transportation plans and reminding each scout what they should pack.  (Note: We will stick to existing patrols for the purpose of food this trip.)   Sorry but this trip is SOLD OUT.

Orienteering Class – Mr. Hodges will present a class on Orienteering which will cover some of the skills needed to earn the Orienteering Merit Badge and some Second and First Class orienteering requirements.  These are good skills for any scout to master.  Especially appropriate for scouts orienteering this weekend.

Court of Honor June 15, 2011

Join us for our next Court of Honor on June 15, 2011.  We start early at 6:30 at the FTCC and refreshments are served at the end.

This is an important meeting for the troop, when parents, relatives, and friends get together to honor the achievements of each of our Scouts.  We encourage all scouts and families to attend, to support your fellow scouts receive their awards, merit badges and rank advancemnt.  It is especially important for parents to be present when a scout is receiving any rank advancement.

This is a FULL CLASS A event.  All Scouts are expected to wear their Class A shirt, a neckerchief ( or bolo for First Class scouts or higher), and scout pants.

Advancement Cleanup Night

Our Meeting Jan 26 will be a Merit Badge Cleanup night.  All adult merit badge counselors are encouraged to make themselves available at this meeting.  Scouts should review their outstanding requirements and come to the meeting prepared to meet with their MB counselors. If a scout would like to start a new MB then see Mr. Koziel to find out if there is a MB counselor available for the badge you want to earn.  Also check the current list of counselors on this web site.

For the younger scouts, this evening can also be used to get those rank requirements signed off.  Remember only a scout Star rank or higher who has been approved can sign-off your book.  The Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster can also sign-off books however in the spirit of a boy-led troop, we encourage seeking help from a Star, Life, or Eagle scout first.

July Meetings

July is a busy month for Troop 7.  We have Scouts going to Camp Squanto, Philmont, and the National Jamboree!

There are two Troop Meetings this month: July 14 and 21.  Both at 7 pm.

Both will be at the Keefe’s house (not at the church).

A main focus will be creating the Gateway into the Comanche site where Troop 7 is camping.  This is huge wall structure that everyone in camp will see when walking by the Troop 7 campsite.  If you are going to summer camp, attend these meetings and lend your creative input and elbow grease to create the best gateway ever!  This year’s theme is “Carnival”.

Troop Meetings

Troop 7 meets Wednesday evenings from 6:45PM until 8:00 PM, except there is no meeting on the first Wednesday of each month.
During the summer or during special events we may meet less frequently so check the Troop Calendar often!

Troop meetings are Class A uniform events, however in the summer (when school is out) Class B uniforms are acceptable.
